Dublin will host the Dublin City of Science 2012 event, formally known as the Euroscience Open Forum, from the 12-16 July, 2012.  This is an interdisciplinary, pan-European meeting, held under the auspices of Euroscience.

This five day international conference, will showcase the best of European science and will bring together leading scientists and public policy officials to address all of the major global challenges of our time including Energy, Climate Change, Food and Health.  The planning and implementation of this event is being co-ordinated by the Office of the Chief Scientific Adviser to the Government of Ireland (CSA).

We are now seeking to appoint an exceptional individual as Director, Dublin City of Science 2012 to manage this prestigious event. The successful candidate will:

  • Be responsible for all aspects of the preparation, planning and delivery of the event for Ireland;
  • Manage a budget of €6 million and secure non-exchequer funding and sponsorship to the level of 50% of this budget.
  • Report to the Chief Scientific Adviser and work closely with the Department of Enterprise, Trade & Innovation and the Forfás Executive to ensure the achievement of objectives;

Written Assignment

To aid the selection process, applicants are asked to support their application with a statement of no more than three A4 pages, setting out an outline business plan for this event, along with their understanding of the opportunities and challenges associated with this role.
